From the realm of obscure but valuable comes this "Green Lama" #1 issue. This super-hero character got his start in pulp magazines, seeing a fair amount of print in the 1930s. By the 1940s the Lama was appearing in the comic book series "Prize Comics" and in December of 1944, Spark Publications launched his first solo comic book with the inaugural issue offered here. This short-lived series had an eight issue run from 1944-1946 and in today's market these mid-1940s Gold Age treasures are rarely seen. Here we have an example of the #1 issue from 12/44, that has recently returned from CGC with a grade designation of (4.0), which is very respectable for comics from this era. Label notations include" Off-White Pages, Ken Crossen and Joseph Green story, Jerry Robinson and Al Bare art, Mac Raboy cover and art, Origin of Green Lama retold, 1st appearance of Lt. Hercules and the Boy champion".
