Though his records indicate he played in twelve MLB seasons, Chicago Cubs slugger "Hack" Wilson (d.1948) really only turned in the equivalent of nine full seasons. His pattern of drinking and his penchant for brawling brought his career and eventually his life to premature endings. Wilson played at such a high level that for a time he was the top paid player in the NL and his single-season record of 191 RBIs set in 1930 stills stands today. His production during the period 1926-1932 was so astonishing, that he was posthumously enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame on the strength of those seven seasons.

Autograph specialists make a major addition to your collection with this Wilson single-signed 1928-1933 ONL/Heydler baseball. Originating during the height of Wilson's fame, this period-signed orb registers as (VG) with uneven tan coloring and enough of the factory stampings remaining to readily identify the type, including the south panel facsimile signature of period NL President John Heydler. Signed as "Lewis Hack Wilson" on the north panel, Wilson's autograph projects ("4-5") potency.

Here at H&S Auctions, we see a whole lot of memorabilia and collectibles. Over the years we have offered our fair share of Hack Wilson autographs, but for the most part these were flats or documents, along with a few multi-signed balls. We are hard pressed to recall a single-signed Wilson ball going through our busy hands, so we're going to go out on a limb and call this a great opportunity to snare a fairly rare autograph type, at an affordable starting point.
