The hero of the 1931 Fall Classic, Gashouse Gang star Pepper Martin enjoyed a 13-year career in the Gateway City during which he paced the N.L. in thefts three different times. This baseball is autographed by the former St. Louis fan favorite. Manufactured locally by St. Louis’ Leacock Sporting Goods, this pre-war unofficial sphere showcases a creamy and smooth surface minimally affected by intermittent toning spots. On the sweet spot, Martin (d.1965) has signed in steel tip fountain pen (“7” strength). Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA. Note: this item has a reserve (estimated value: $2000-$3000).
