In the universe of Silver Age super-hero comics, Marvels "Amazing Fantasy" #15 stands out as the top prize. Throughout the early 1960s, Marvel introduced an incredible roster of iconic heroes, including The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Daredevil, Ant-Man, Wasp, Dr. Strange and Sgt. Fury. The comic book industry giant also re-introduced Gold Age heroes Captain America and Sub-Mariner, with "Cap" joining The Avengers team. While all of these characters proved highly popular and remain so more than fifty years later, none has surpassed Spider-Man in fan devotion and top of the charts sales.

Our favorite "Web-Head" got his start in the offered Amazing Fantasy #15 comic book, which marks the first ever appearance of the Spider-Man/Peter Parker character, along with his caretakers Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Dated 8/62, this vastly important Silver Age key issue has returned fresh from CGC certification in time for our current auction, with an assigned grade of (1.8). Label notations include "Off-White" Pages, Stan Lee story, Steve Ditko art, Jack Kirby cover, Origin & 1st appearance of Spider-Man (peter Parker), 1st appearance of Uncle Ben & Aunt May".

For most comics from the '60s, this grade point would seem unimpressive, however when you consider that a NM copy of AF 15 would set you back more than $1,000,000, this budget friendly example makes good sense for many collectors, as "fair market value" for this grade hovers in the $12,000-16,000 range. On the flip side of the coin, investors can track the steady increase in value over the years for this "blue chip" comic. In any case, the unbelievably low starting point for this certified example is inviting for any and all interested parties.
