A full 27 seasons removed from their last World Series conquest, the 1935 Chicago Cubs hadn't the slightest inkling of the torturous "curse" that lay ahead and was to extend their drought to more than a century. Entering September chasing both the Cardinals and Giants, the North Siders authored a 21-game winning streak to advance to their fifth of six straight October heartaches in the 108-season lull. Sporting new uniforms (a short-lived style of only two years), those 1935 Cubs are the subject of this vintage George Burke photograph. Measuring 6x4", the thick stock period print portrays the club in a three-tier pose at Wrigley Field with Sheffield Avenue buildings visible in the background. There are printed identifiers and a George Burke studio stamping on the obverse of this (NM) Cubbie keepsake.
