Renowned for superb quality and detailed high relief designs, the Medallic Art Company has been churning out prized commemoratives since 1900. Blue-blooded Los Angelinos will have to battle it out with savvy numismatists to take control of the pair of medals celebrating the opening day of Dodgers Stadium. Offered are (2) MACO limited edition 2-1/2" diameter medals dated 4/10/62 that commemorate the opening of the stadium at Chavez Ravine. These heavy metal rounds are both graded by NGC, with: 1.) Silver medal serial number "627" with a reported weight of slightly more than 4 ounces (MS64); and 2.) Bronze medal serial number "220" also approximately 4 ounces (MS66). Obverse designs feature a relief image of the venue, with the legend "Dodgers Stadium Los Angeles" in raised lettering around the rim and the reverses center on a batter with the team names "Dodgers" at top and "Angels" at bottom, recalling the fact that the Angels shared space as a tenant of the Dodgers from 1962-1965 before moving into their own digs at Anaheim in 1966.
