Get in tune with this antique sheet music selection from more than a century ago. Published by the U.S. Music Co. of Williamsport, PA, this ancient piece of ephemera is titled "The Baseball March and Two-Step" by Johann C. Schmid. Consisting of three pages printed on both sides, this sheet music selection is decorated on the front cover with a fantastic baseball scene illustration credited to H.R. Smith. Though the pages have separated from each other at the spine, the cover will present nicely in framed display. Several tears are noted along the edges, but the artwork integrity remains pleasing and the surface is generally clean. The back page is titled "Uncle Remus. Negro Characteristic. March Two Step", providing crossover appeal for Black Americana collectors. A search for other examples of this dated 1905 sheet music yielded no results for sale, indicating this piece is potentially very rare and the only other examples found were in the possession of museum and archives. One such entity offers an "image" of this sheet music for the price of $499, which we take to mean that they are asking that sum for a photograph of this turn of the century treasure. Chew that over as you contemplate the very reasonable starting point for this item.
