A back-up catcher for the entirety of his six-year Major League tenure, bespectacled backstop Dave Ricketts hit but one lifetime home run. Exactly 17 years and one day following Ricketts’ playing days highlight, Hall of Famer Bruce Sutter presented him with this wristwatch in appreciation of his assistance in the Cardinals bullpen. The Seiko time piece features a calf skin wristband and a gold-plated clock face with a date identifier. On the stainless steel reverse side of the time piece, an engraved dedication reads: “Dave - Special thanks for your help in setting the new N.L. “save” record – 9-3-84 – Bruce Sutter.” Sutter established the Senior Circuit save standard that year with 45. The item presents beautifully and likely needs a battery to facilitate operation.
