This board of "American Transfer Pictures" was designed to hang in a prominent place at a local newsstand or variety store, where patrons could view and purchase small, color images to apply to other surfaces. Produced by M.P. & Co. (whose 1940s baseball cards issues remain popular among today's collectors) this approximately 9" x 11", cardboard display – with its full complement of twelve dozen pictures still properly attached – remains complete, as made. The small pictures depict wartime subjects (Eisenhower, Churchill, FDR, Stalin) as well as military topics and even natural history, and the piece projects a fresh-from-the-factory appearance. An original, specially marked storage bag accompanies.
