An all-around performer known for prolific passing that led the Washington Redskins to two NFL titles, Sammy Baugh also starred as a punter and defensive back throughout a career that landed him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s inaugural class. From the peak of Baugh’s stellar career, this original Type I photograph portrays the Texas Christian product during the height of his gridiron heroics. The sepia-toned photo measures 8-1/2 x 6-1/2” and shows the Griffith Stadium legend in a passing pose while wearing his since-retired number “33.” There are grease pencil editorial markings on the obverse, while the reverse is home to a “WM. C. GREENE” photographer stamping, several date stampings and an adhered published caption which refers to Baugh as “Babe Ruth of the pros.”
